About the Symposium
The International Symposium on Language, Mind and Cognition (SLMC 2026) is organised by the Department of Linguistics at Istanbul Medeniyet University. The symposium brings together researchers from linguistics, psycholinguistics, cognitive science, philosophy of language, neurolinguistics, and computational approaches to discuss current work on the mental and cognitive foundations of language.
The working language is English. The programme will include keynote talks, oral sessions, and poster sessions.
Topics
Theoretical, experimental, and computational contributions are welcome in (but not limited to) the following areas:
- Cognitive linguistics, conceptual structure, and metaphor
- Philosophy of language and philosophy of mind
- First and second language acquisition
- Bilingualism and multilingualism
- Sentence processing and discourse comprehension
- Neurolinguistics and the biological foundations of language
- Lexical access and word representation
- Linguistic relativity, language and thought
- Computational models and the cognitive implications of large language models
- Studies drawing on Turkish and other understudied languages
